This is story about a great man, a man that left our world on June 14, 2009 and took pieces of our hearts that we will never get back.
This story is about Fernando Fisdel, the greatest guy I ever knew. A man of honor, respect and a true legend. He was not only loved by his parents, sisters, 3 children, wife and family members, but by so many more. A man with the biggest heart, a man with only one concern, that concern was making sure everyone was happy.
This is his story.
Fernando went to federal prison 10 years ago and served 32 months for money laundering. It is a story filled with much laughter and just as many tears. While serving time, he was referred to as "THE COACH". He was a teacher, a coach, a friend, a peace maker and a big brother. He taught GED classes, coached inmates how to play many sports, befriended all and roomed with an inmate no one else would. When he got out of prison he continued to keep in touch with the friends he left behind. He received many letters from them that included phrases such as "I miss you coach, I'll never forget you coach, I love you coach, you changed my life coach" Phrases one would not expect to hear from federal inmates behind bars, but that was just the kind of man he was, a man that left his mark on everyone he met. He even had a ex-offender, live with him for 2 years, until he was ready to leave "Fernando's nest".
Fernando felt everyone deserved a SECOND CHANCE. So in his honor I would like to start a foundation to carry on his tradition.
What I Need is your HELP to start the foundation.
COACH YOU THROUGH", will give "excepted", inmates released from Federal Prison a helping hand. A second chance for a better life. Help may be in the form of clothing, housing, jobs, therapy, or an encouraging conversation to make sure someone believes in them. We owe this to Fernando, this was his calling and now it will be ours.
I need a lot of advice, ideas and a group of people that believe that everyone deserves a second chance.
PLEASE help me get this foundation started. I will be thankful for any help, big or small that you can give.
Lets all help keep Fernando's smile alive and help him rest in peace.
